Rob and Cherry Pickering always dreamed of owning a toy store; visits to toy stores were even a priority on family vacations. This year the timing was right and they set up shop in the huge bavarian-style Schnitzelbank building in Kenmore. Not just a toy store, Snapdoodle Toys is all about community building. The Pickerings invite customers to hang out and play so they offer numerous play tables for sampling the games, toys, trains, and crafts. There's also a dress-up section (with a great selection for boys too) and free lattes and tea while you shop. Rob is a former educator and stay-home dad so he knows what kids like and what parents appreciate. Snapdoodle
offers weekly storytimes, art classes, and family game nights too. They
sell a huge variety of quality toys, games, and puzzles for all ages.
A large selection of toys come from local Northwest companies such as
Fuzzytown and Find
It Games. We love the huge birthday party room where you can
host up to 20 little ones for a fun celebration complete with an organized
craft. Seriously...what kid wouldn't want their birthday party at a toy
store?! (PS: The room is also available for community groups such as Girl
Scout meetings etc...) Snap to it and head over to Snapdoodle for some
serious F-U-N! Stay
Tuned: Fans of whimsically colorful and casual children's clothing,
(a la Hanna Andersson and Zutano), will love the new and surprisingly
affordable Naartjie store opening at the end of June in Redmond Town Center.
Naartjie (pronounced nar chee, a small citrus fruit) is a delicious clothing
line which originated in South Africa and offers fashions for newborns
up to size 10.
