This weather has left us hankering for something cold and creamy. Ice Cream. Nothing beats it on a hot day. Especially when you can enjoy it outside. Craving something a bit trendier healthier? Frozen Yogurt is where it’s at these days. It’s low (or non) fat, healthy (assuming you lay off the coco puffs), and filling. Gwenyth is doing it. Perez is doing it. Go ahead, go Hollywood. Here are our picks for the best ice cream and frozen yogurt spots in Seattle and the Eastside. Did we miss one of your faves? Don’t be shy about logging in and sharing the scoop (get it?) in the comment field below.
Seattle Ice Cream:
Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream
1622 1/2 N 45th St. (Wallingford)
Open every day, noon-11 p.m.
www.mollymoonicecream.com
If you missed the epic grand opening of this organic ice cream hot spot a few weeks ago, be sure to get down there ASAP - it’s the spot everyone will be talking about this summer.
Scoop Du Jour
4029 E Madison St
Seattle, WA, 98112
(206) 325-9562
Right in the heart of Madison Park, you can grab a scoop of delicious ice cream on a waffle cone and walk down to the park or waterfront. This is a Seattle tradition. Don’t miss out on their famous burgers or grilled cheese either. This is the real deal.
Husky Deli
4721 California Avenue SW
Seattle, WA 98116
(206) 937-2810
www.huskydeli.com
This West Seattle icon is where everyone heads for their ice cream. You can make a West Seattle day-trip with this joint. Pick up a few sandwiches, drinks, and don’t forget the candy. Head to Alki and voila! Perfect day.
Bottega Italiana
1425 1st Ave (Downtown)
Seattle, WA 98101
(206) 343-0200
409 N E 70th Street (Greenlake)
Seattle, WA 98115
206.524.4416
www.bottegaitaliana.com
Wishing you were in Italy? This is where you can get your gelato fix. The ingredients are fresh and creative. They even serve ice cream that is vegan and non-dairy. With 60% less fat than ice cream, it sounds like the perfect time to head here. Grazi!
Seattle Frozen Yogurt:
Crazy Cherry
www.crazy-berry.com
Nestled on Capital Hill’s broadway near Dick’s burgers, this is the LA-scene “Pink-berry” knock-off had to change its name to Crazy Cherry (from berry). A major fan favorite for fro-yo. They use Nancy’s and Sunshine dairy products. Fresh fruit as well as fun dried goods can be sprinkled on top to make this the perfect treat. Flavors are strawberry, green tea, and plain. They have a monthly 4th selection as well (currently mocha). They’re opening stores in Bellevue, Issaquah, and Greenlake.
MooBerry
2019 NW Market St
Seattle, WA 98107
(206) 706-4842
In the heart of Ballard, you can get your frozen yogurt fix in this new store to get in on the fro-yo trend. Grab a tangy treat and head to Me N Momz for some resale therapy, or head to the Ballard Locks or Golden Gardens to enjoy your treat outdoors.
Eastside Ice Cream:
Theno’s Dairy (aka Vivian’s Pride)
12248 156th Ave. NE
Redmond, WA 98052-2041
Phone: (425) 885-2339
Near the South 47 Farm in Redmond, Theno’s Dairy has been a main-stay since the 1940’s. The ice cream is fresh and made from local cows. Go for a scoop or grab a pint of hand-packed ice cream to enjoy at home. Really groovy and unique flavors. They sell milk and cheese too. Kiddos love to sit on the big cow out front.
Snoqualmie Gourmet Ice Cream
21106 86th
Ave SE
Maltby, WA
(360) 668-8535
www.snoqualmiegourmet.com
This ice-creamery is a bit of a drive for Seattle, however it’s worth it! This establishment makes sorbet, ice cream, and frozen custard (our favorite is the lemon custard). In addition, they host parties. This is a perfect way to end a trip to Flower World, or even Woodinville. You can also buy pints at some local markets (Metropolitan Market) if Maltby isn’t on your “to-do” list this week.
Ben and Jerry’s
176 Lake St S
Kirkland, WA, 98033
(425) 576-1609
Now that B&J’s has left U-village, you’ll have to get your fix from this Kirkland establishment. A short walk to a few different waterfront access points, it’s the perfect treat to enjoy on Lake Washington.
Eastside Frozen Yogurt:
Ce Fiore
111 Lake St S
Kirkland, WA 98033
www.cefiore.com
Ce Fiore is one of two fro-yo stores in Kirkland. The atmosphere is clean and comfortable. The flat panel screen displays the flavors, prices, and toppings. Green Tea and Regular are always available. The other two flavors tend to change. The raspberry pomegranate is to die for with fresh strawberries and granola.
Schnoo
223 Kirkland Ave
This Fro-yo establishment has an almost cult-like following. You’re sure to run into a tweeny-bopper while waiting for your turn at Schnoo. The kids will enjoy the low, space-age seats in this clean and neutral environment. The toppings include healthy options (fruit, granola) as well as not-so-healthy options (chocolate chips, oreos, coco puffs, etc). They recently added a pomegranate flavor to their existing green tea and regular flavors.
Red Mango
Bellevue Square & Alderwood Mall
www.redmangousa.com
This pre-Pinkberry shop is the grandfather of all Frozen Yogurts. Look for stores in U-village, Pacific Place, and Southcenter malls soon. Creamy and delicious, you’ll feel better feeding your little one fro-yo over ice cream. This doesn’t have high fructose corn syrup, and is packed with good-for-your-gut probiotics.

Another great place for yogurt (and ice cream!) is The Inside Scoop in Mill Creek. It’s located in the Mill Creek Albertsons plaza. They have over 50 customizable yogurt flavors (they start with a plain yogurt base and customers get to choose the flavor they want added from a list). Plus, there’s espresso, ice cream, smoothies cakes, a party and meeting room, Dietetic & Lactose Free Choices, toppings, etc. There are two kid-friendly sitting areas and a side room where kids can run around a bit. Yummy yogurt, espresso & ice cream, as well as a friendly & local owner!
