“Near the forfront of the next generation of parenting tools...Red Tricycle is not your mother's parenting aide. Readers are razr-phone-toting, book-club-joining moms who at least know what a blackberry is."
Seattle Post Intelligencer April 2006

A Healthier You
Gwyneth does it. Madonna does it. And now Seattle mamas are lining up to reap the rewards of Pilates, a gentle, mindful exercise that also happens to yield rockin' abs. Why all the buzz?
"Pilates is a great workout because it doesn't end when you leave the studio; it's something you can take with you everyday. I think about my core at work, at home, when I run and do other physical activities. After a few weeks I started to notice the difference in my posture, how I walked, and how I carried myself in general," according to Stephanie Klitz, a client at Conscious Body Pilates in Madison Valley.
Heather Scearce, founder of Conscious Body Pilates, came to the practice herself after a debilitating back injury. Pilates exercise was the only relief she found from the pain, "After that, a new world of possibility opened up to me again. By gaining strength and control over my body, I also regained my confidence and my ability to enjoy life."
Her studio (recently voted Best of by Seattle Metropolitan magazine) offers quality Pilates instruction to people of all needs and abilities in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. The space has a warm, friendly vibe - kind of like a bunch of girlfriends getting together to work out. Clients choose from individual sessions with the Pilates equipment (private or duet), and a variety of mat classes. The mat classes are totally approachable and perfect for beginners. Classes include Prenatal, Mom & Baby, Intro to Pilates and more. Heather limits attendance in each class to five students, which means lots of personalized attention for each person.
Pilates workouts combine the best of dance, yoga, stretching, breathing and a deep core work out. And let's face it, who doesn't need a deep core workout? Your core is the foundation for the rest of your body. When you core is strong, your body works more efficiently, whether you are going for a run or just running after your kids.
Check the schedule online for upcoming sessions to start focusing on a healthier you.
