The King is (Not) Dead

The retro-cool ukulele is currently having another moment in the sun. Not since Elvis strummed one in Blue Hawaii in the `60s, has the tiny stringed instrument had such a groovy image. Get your kids in on the action by visiting Dusty Springs, the acoustic music shop in Fremont, where a new batch of colorful Mahalo ukes is waiting.

The folks at Dusty Strings say the maple-wood instruments make sweet gifts for young ones; they come in green, black, purple, orange and powder pink (from $29.95 each). Best pick up a copy of The Complete Ukulele Course for Kids DVD, too ($29.99). Unless your child has natural born talent akin to The King, that is.
