“Near the forfront of the next generation of parenting tools...Red Tricycle is not your mother's parenting aide. Readers are razr-phone-toting, book-club-joining moms who at least know what a blackberry is."

Call of the Wild

You're worried your cooped-up kids are going to go ape during the dark, rainy winter. What's a mom or dad to do to stay sane? Trek over to Urban Monkeys, a mod new play space with cool classes for kids and a sleek "oasis" for adults to boot.

Zero to six year olds can exercise their growing minds and bodies in sessions such as belly dancing, yoga, recess or storybook acting. Or, simply take Junior to open gym hours in the afternoon and schedule a mani or pedi appointment in the oasis while your little monkey tires himself out. Opened by Gina Hadley and Jeanna Peterson, two business savvy entrepreneurs who worked in advertising and for Microsoft, respectively, the loft-like Urban Monkeys facility has a W Hotel aesthetic, complete with muted blue and brown tones and oodles of pure white. There's also a tiny retail space with finds such as Sally Spicer diaper bags. With every turn, Urban Monkeys is not your typical kids' play space and we're jumping for joy about that.
