Autumn Moon
Festival Celebration at Sponge on September 14!
When American children gaze up into the night sky, they search for
the man in the moon. Children in China, Japan and Mexico, however,
look for the rabbit in the moon. In honor of the Moon
Festival, which is widely celebrated in Asia in the fall, Sponge will
offer a moon- and rabbit-themed day of crafts, mini language classes,
snacks and fun on September 14 from 10 a.m. to noon. Children can
participate in a special art project—rabbit screen-printing
(bring a t-shirt!)—and learn some new language as they sing,
dance and play in Mandarin, Spanish, French or Japanese. Children
ages newborn to 7 years old and their families are welcome.
